2014 December 18 2013, 0 Comments

I  have some exciting things planned for the website in 2014. A new look, more shipping choices, new kokeshi dolls and much more.  I will be adding a new category of vintage one of a kind Japanese items for sale. I'm very excited about the items I have for sale.

The one thing that will not change is my customer service. I treat each of my customers as I would want to be treated. I expect quality in a product I purchase and I guarantee that on my website as well.

I love kokeshi dolls and I look for the highest quality products available in Japan. ALL of our kokeshi dolls are made in Japan. They are solid wood, hand crafted and hand painted.  I personally know and support the artists in Japan who make these beautiful dolls. They are talented men and women who love the craft of Kokeshi.

Visit the website again in the new year and expect to be happy!

Nativity pieces December 18 2013, 0 Comments

Wow, I had no idea how popular the separate nativity kokeshi dolls would be!  Many of you have ordered the 3-pc Kokeshi Nativity Set and then added one or more of the other pieces to your set. We are currently sold out of the 3 Wisemen and the angel. I think I have one sheep and shepherd set left.

I am looking into obtaining more of the separates.  I'll keep you posted.

Holiday shipping December 18 2013, 0 Comments

Thank you for your orders! I am trying to ship within 24 hours so that your package has the best chance to reach you by December 25.

Don't forget to add gift wrap for only $5.00. Be sure to include gift wrap in the cart. If you would like a personal message, please email your order number and message to www.kokeshidesigns@hotmail.com  I'll be sure to include it with your gift.

The gift wrap is a high quality burgundy gift wrap with a green ribbon as well as a gift tag. It's pretty! I don't have a picture on the website and no time to do that right now, but it is really lovely.

A kokeshi doll is a beautiful, unique gift to give to family and friends.

Thank you for your business. Enjoy our kokeshi dolls!

Thank you Salt Lake City! April 27 2013, 0 Comments

I had a great time today in Salt Lake City, Utah, attending the Nihon Matsuri Festival. Thank you to all of my wonderful customers who purchased  kokeshi dolls. I appreciate your business and know that you will enjoy your kokeshi dolls. It was great to see so many returning customers too. I always enjoy hearing how much you enjoy the dolls you have purchased from me. I also met some people who knew people that I know in Japan! Does that make sense?? It really is a small world.

I am low on stock on the website right now. I'm in the process of ordering dolls now, and hope to be adding some new additions to the current online collection.  I should be stocked within a month or so. So, if you don't see what you want, please let me know and when our shipment arrives, I'll hold the doll you want and send you an email.

Thanks again Salt Lake City. You are awesome!

Sharon

It's Almost Christmas December 17 2012, 0 Comments

Christmas is almost here! I can't believe how fast the month has flown by. To our customers in the United States, this Thursday December 20, is the last day for priority mail shipping that is supposed to arrive in time for Christmas. At least that is what my friends at the Post Office are telling me. I'm shipping everyday to make sure that you have your beautiful kokeshi dolls in time for Christmas. But, please don't wait until Thursday to order. Do it today and by tomorrow your doll will be on the way to you!

Thank you for your business. I appreciate it!

Sharon

Customers in Japan December 14 2012, 0 Comments

We typically have the 3-pc and 9-pc Kokeshi Nativity Sets in stock in Japan and are able to ship within Japan using the Japan post. Unfortunately, the website doesn't know that and when you try to order and use your Japan address, the website automatically charges you international shipping rates. We don't like that and we know you don't either!  So, we handle it two ways: if you do order from the website, we will refund a portion of your shipping fees. OR~ you can send us a note on the contact us  and we will personally help you with your order. It works, we do it all the time. That way you can receive a beautiful 3-pc or 9-pc Kokeshi Nativity Set and pay a minimal Japan post shipping charge.

We appreciate your business and want you to have a great shopping experience with Kokeshi Designs. We are shoppers too and know how important customer service is to us. If you have any questions, or need help just let us know. Thanks!

It's a jungle out there December 10 2012, 0 Comments

I did some Christmas shopping in town today. It was crazy time. The traffic, finding a parking place, obtaining a shopping cart, trying to make my way through the crowds of people and on and on. It reminded me why I am an online shopper. I can shop anytime I want to, including late at night in my PJ's!  Online is my shopping experience of choice.

I love our Kokeshi dolls. They are Japanese art, a handcrafted piece of art. They are authentic, made in Japan by talented artists with a love for their craft. The dolls are significant with themes relating to children, holidays, nature, families and so on. They are unique and really beautiful. They make a wonderful gift and.......you can buy them from the comfort of your home. For a small fee we even gift wrap. It doesn't get any better than that!

I'm choosing them as gifts for my own family. Hope they aren't reading my blog. ;)

Take care and enjoy the season.

We also received the lacquer doll, Yuzuru. It is one of my favorites. Two flying cranes in front of a beautiful moon. The cranes represent good luck and happiness. You can see the lacquer Yuzuru doll in the Lacquer catagory.

Kokeshi dolls are on the way! October 27 2012, 1 Comment

Our kokeshi dolls are all hand crafted, hand painted and they all come from Japan. They are made by kokeshi artists who are dear friends of ours.  We know them and their families well. The artists are so happy to be able to share their craft with people around the world through our website, Kokeshi Designs. We are happy to facilitate their dream.  Many of the dolls, including the Nativity Sets are made exclusively for Kokeshi Designs.

With such an interest in our website and our dolls from our customers around the world, it has been a challenge for us to keep all of our dolls in stock. We are working on that and will do better in the coming year.  Thank you so much for your business!  We appreciate you very much. The quality of our dolls is beautiful. We will always provide you with an exceptional product and fantastic customer service. We are shoppers too and we know what we expect from a company.

We know many of you are waiting for your favorite doll to purchase for the holidays. They are on the way! We should have everything on the website within the next 2 weeks. If you have contacted me about the 3-pc sets, please know that I will put a set aside for you and contact you personally when they arrive.

Again, thank you for your business. Kokeshi Designs started because I love and collected kokeshi dolls during my many years in Japan. My passion for these beautiful dolls continues and motivates me to help my many customers around the world enjoy the beautiful craft of Japanese Kokeshi dolls.

Warmest Regards,

Sharon

Kokeshi Christmas ornaments October 08 2012, 0 Comments

We are doing our best to restock all of our Kokeshi Christmans ornaments, however it looks as though we will not be able to get any more Samurai or Ninja, maybe ever. EEks! If you ever thought you wanted one of these adorable little ornaments, now is the time to order them before they are all gone! I expect to sell out this holiday season. They are flying out of here now. They are so reasonably priced at $18.00 each! Hand made, hand painted, you can't beat that price!

We are currently out of stock on our little girl but she is being made now and we hope to have her by the end of October.

Thanks!

Japan National Holiday October 08 2012, 0 Comments

The second Monday of October is a Japanese national holiday.
It is Health and Sports Day (taiiku no hi).
It was on that day in 1964 that the Olympic games of Tokyo were opened. We have a kokeshi doll to celebrate Health and Sports Day.  It is our child playing soccer.
